Stakeholders and participants attending a two day conference on Statelessness has validated the final national Action Plan on Statelessness in Liberia.
The conference brought together various Ministries Agencies, and commission at the Mamba Point Hotel in Liberia from February 15-16, 2023.
With the validation of the (NAP), when approve by the Liberian cabinet, will set into motion for the implementation of activities leading to a nationwide campaign to end Statelessness in Liberia by 2024.
Speaking to journalists minute after the validation and signing of the (NAP ), Liberia Refugee Repatriation and Resettlement Commission Executive Director Festus Logan said with the validation, when approve by cabinet, his Commission and other institutions will commerce a vigor campaign across the Country informing citizenry about the importance of ending Statelessness by 2024.
For his part, the Country Representative of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugee (UNHCR) Anthony Abogi lauded Stakeholders for their interest for the past two days aimed at ending Statelessness in Liberia.
Currently, it is estimated that Liberia has a population of nearly twenty thousand Stateless people within its borders.
