The Asylum Committee of the Liberia Refugee Repatriation and Resettlement Commission (LRRRC) is currently adjudicating 0ver 400 cases recently assessed in Grand Gedeh County. The adjudicating of the cases followed the June 30th deadline for coming into force of the cessation of Ivorian Refugees living in Liberia.

The process started since April of 2022 with cases from Nimba, Grand Gedeh, Maryland, Montserrado and River Gee counties respectively. Liberia has one of the favorable protection environments in the World.

Speaking at the opening ceremony held at the Farmington Hotel in Margibi County, LRRRC Executive Director Rev. Festus Logan and UNHCR Country Representative to Liberia H.E. Akuma Abogi encouraged members of the Asylum Committee to do all within their powers to adjudicate the cases in a timely manner.

The Asylum Committee is consist of, Ministries of Justice, Internal Affairs,  Foreign Affairs,  Ministry of Finance and Development Planning while, LRRRC serves as Chairman and  UNHCR  a nonvoting member.
